ICT ENTRY Foundation
Course outline
This course lasts for a period of one year, where students gain a practical knowledge of ICT. There are several modules to be studied; each one requires an assignment to be completed. The modules taught are:
Introduction to Using ICT Systems
Introduction to Using Spreadsheet Software
Introduction to Using Word Processing Software
Introduction to Using Desk Top Publishing Applications
Introduction to Selecting Information Using the Internet
Introduction to Using the Internet
Health and Safety Awareness
Introduction to Personal Budgeting and Money Management
Waxing and Polishing a Car Exterior
Teaching styles
Group work; individual learning; e-learning; teacher led; student led.
Assessment
100% coursework assignments for all three modules.
Subject combinations
English and Mathematics are often studied alongside this course. These can be at entry level or 2-year GCSE.

Library; classroom text books; software-related exercises; intranet; well equipped classrooms with up-to-date ICT equipment
Progression
The course allows students with a possible progression to a suitable Level 1 course in ICT, Business and Health & Social Care.
Entry requirements
No grades are required as such. However a good understanding of English will be needed.
