About this course

For entry to this course learners will normally require one of the following:
4 GCSEs at grade D or above;
Foundation GNVQ at Merit (and, preferably, 2 key skills at level 1);
Equivalent Level 1 qualification at Merit level.
All applicants are given an informal interview. Learners over 20 years old without formal qualifications will be given every consideration.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
We browse websites, download music files and send e-mails. We take digital photos, listen to CDs and play computer games. For an increasing number of people, producing digital applications is the way they make a living. DiDA will give you a solid grounding in all of these, enabling you to go on to further study or to go into the workplace with the relevant skills.

WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 16 hours per week. In addition it is essential that you spend 4 hours per week on coursework at home or in college (much of this work is planning and designing not necessitating a computer). For each unit you will produce an eportfolio which is set by and submitted to the examining body, Edexcel.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will gain an Award, Certificate or Diploma in Digital Applications at either level 1 or 2, which are equivalent to 1, 2 or 4 GCSEs.
You will also complete a programme of Key Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Key Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.

2i103-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 696(34) 19 years and over

WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
If you pass the DiDA you can progress into a variety of career options, or onto a more specialist FE course developing your hardware or software skills, or with a Merit grade you can progress onto the BTEC National IT Practitioners.
