About this course
You are not required to have any formal qualifications to study English as classes are offered at different levels. With vocational programmes, the entry requirements are dependent on the chosen subject. The requirements need to be discussed with the International Office.

COURSE SUMMARY
South Leicestershire College offers two distinct programmes of study at either our main Wigston site or our Market Harborough site.
Home and EU Learners
- You can study both English and IT for 24.5 hours per week, 15.5 hours of English and 9 hours of IT. If you pass your Skills for Life English exams and your IT exam, you will receive your money back. You must enrol for and complete a minimum of two terms.
Overseas Learners
- You can study 15.5 hours of English per week and can enrol for 1, 2 or 3 terms. The money back option does not apply.
Vocational subjects with English
- It is possible to combine English with other vocational courses such as Travel and Tourism and Business. The money back option does not apply and you must contact the International Office to check requirements for entry onto your preferred vocational course.
WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
Cambridge ESOL exams, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE exams can be taken at the college. An IELTS preparation class is also offered (with the exam taken offsite).
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
The English language course consists of a minimum of 15.5 hours per week. You will need to attend college every weekday. To gain full benefit from the course, you should attend for three full terms (one academic year).
The courses run throughout the Academic year.

2a101-09: September - June
MARKET HARBOROUGH CAMPUS
2a102-09: September - June
Course dates are 05/01/2010 and 07/04/2010 but enrolments up to each half term are usually possible.
WHAT WILL IT COST ME?
2a101-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 1000(199) 19 years and over
Course fees are payable on enrolment. Costs shown in brackets are for those on income-based benefits. Refunds are not normally available.
WHAT ADDITIONAL COSTS ARE THERE?
For learners with non-EU passports, the course fee is 4995 per year, payable termly.
Deposit before enrolment: 1000.
Please contact the International Office for a fee assessment to ensure that you are eligible for home fees.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
Following successful completion of the course you may have the opportunity to continue into Higher Education (depending on the level achieved) or continue study in Further Education.
The Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) Advanced (CAE) and Proficency (CPE) are internationally recognised qualifications which will allow you to progress onto other courses of study.
