About this course

A level 2 Beauty or Complementary Therapy qualification or equivalent would be preferred, however selections will be made following an interview. NB. Current students will not be able to take this qualification alongside a full time course. A minimum of 80% attendance is required.

Description
Indian Head Massage is a treatment that is applied to the head, neck, shoulder, upper back and arm areas. The methods are designed to promote relaxation, to relieve stress related muscle tension and to improve blood flow. The techniques used are ones that have been used for many years in the East.

Course Length
Various attendance modes are available. Please contact Student Services for confirmation of days and times etc - usually 3 hours per week over 20 weeks.

What will I study?
The Certificate in Indian Head Massage consists of 4 Mandatory Units:

Unit 201- Working in Beauty Therapy
Unit 302 - Monitoring and Maintain Health & Safety in the Salon
Unit 203 - Consult & Advise clients on treatments
Unit 309 - Provide Indian Head Massage

How will I learn?
The course will be taught using a mixture of approaches, including demonstrations, directed learning, independent study, tutorials, internal and external assessments.

How will I be assessed?
Units are internally and externally assessed.

A portfolio of assessment evidence will be developed and produced at the end of the course.



Where could it lead?
City and Guilds qualification in Complementary Therapies, Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology.

Employment/self employment as a qualified therapist in private practice, in a salon, leisure centre or in the health sector such as hospitals, hospices and health practices.
