Who is the programme for? This technical certificate is designed for students who are undertaking a foundation apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, or for people who are currently working within he industry who wish to develop and learn new skills.

What will I study? To achieve the certificate candidates are required to complete the following 3 mandatory units: * Engineering Environmental Awareness * Engineering Techniques * Engineering Principles Pathway Mandatory Unit: * Material Processes and 2 optional units from a choice of 5: * Fitting and Assembly Techniques and Technology * Machining Techniques and Technology (Turning and Milling) * Machining Techniques and Technology (Turning) * Machining Techniques and Technology (Milling) * Grinding Techniques Technology.

Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? The programme is assessed through a combination of assignments and externally set examinations.

Future prospects? The programme is designed to ensure successful candidates are equipped with the theoretical knowledge, as well as the practical skills in engineering, to prepare them for employment and enable candidates to progress onto the Advanced Technical Certificate.

When will the programme start? September.

How long will it take? Typically one year part time day release.

What about the Money? This programme is free to students under 19 years of age.
