Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy is an exciting and rewarding industry, this course offers a great introduction into a career in both areas and will provided you with all the necessary knowledge and skills to work in a salon and/or to progress on to the Level 2 Diploma

• The Academy of Hair & Beauty at our High Street Campus has fully equipped modern, professional salons for hairdressing, beauty therapy and nail services
• You will use up to date equipment professional products
• Your tutors are highly qualified professionals with a wealth of industry experience
• You will attend Manchester Trade Fair and have the opportunity to enter and visit other competitions

• You will learn how to complete a variety of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy treatments, working safely in the salon and promote a professional image.
• Essential Skills for Progression in English and Maths to support your basic education and career development

Units may include:

• Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Industry
• Presenting a Professional image in the salon
• Follow Health and Safety in the salon
• Skin care
• Provide basic Manicure treatments
• Provide basic pedicure treatments
• Shampoo and blow-dry hair
• Plait hair
• Create a Hair and Beauty image

• You will work as part of a team, working together and supporting each other throughout the year but will have one-to-one tutorials to monitor progress
• All practical sessions will take place in our commercial salons and give you the opportunity to watch demonstrations and practice newly acquired skills
• Theory sessions will cover the underpinning knowledge required to complete assignments
• All practical sessions will take place in our commercial salons working with real clients.
• You will take part in work experience and be encouraged to find part-time work in a salon

• Our commercial salons are equipped with all up-to-date products and equipment
• You will have access to the course virtual learning environment (VLE) where you can use the on line resources both at College and from home
• You are required to purchase a kit and wear a uniform for the practical aspects of your course
