Designed specifically to provide you with all the skills and knowledge to plan, measure, layout and fit base and wall units through to fitting work tops, plinths, cornice, sinks, hobs and extractor fan hoods. You will learn health and safety, working practices, good house keeping and cleanliness. This includes safe use of hand tools, electrical equipment and their safe handling. Suitable for: The perfect course if you wish to fit your own Kitchen and save on the installation cost which can be in excess of £1500.

This is now a bespoke and sought after course, saving students hundreds of pounds when installing their own new kitchen.
The chance to plan and fit a new kitchen will probably be a rare experience for most people. A new kitchen is a long-term investment and your time and money must be spent wisely. The kitchen is the place where family and friend congregate – the heart of the home and a work of art you want to be proud off.
Replacing a kitchen provides an opportunity to rectify fundamental problems in the design, layout or even the type of materials and equipment installed. To fit your own kitchen to your own design is the ultimate achievement for the D-I-Y enthusiast or property developer.
The Building Skills Academy Kitchen fitting course provides you with the knowledge and skills to plan, project manage and install your own kitchen at a fraction of the price charged by a third party installer. From the start you will be made aware of all health and Safety aspects in working with hand tools, jigs, routers, jigsaws circular and mitre(chop)saws, to mention only a few.
During the design session you will be introduced to the triangle, how to design your kitchen layout to provide an ideal production line giving the best economic use of work centres. The positioning of plumbing and electric services plays an important part in the design of your kitchen. You will also be shown how to make an electrical installation plan considering safety and lighting requirements.

This bespoke course takes you through the complete kitchen planning, fitting and commissioning process.
The 5 day course covers the following topics:
- Safe use and management of tools
- Measuring, planning and typical layouts, dealing with corners and uneven walls
- Planning for electric socket locations, water pipes and waste, dishwashers, fridges, freezers and extractor fan hood installation
- Setting out from a datum line – essential for any kitchen fitting project – lazer levels and spirit levels
- Installation of base and wall units
- Scribing and cutting to meet uneven walls
- Measuring, setting up worktop template (jig) and cutting using quality routers
- Cutting out of sink and cooking hob recesses
- Measuring, cutting mitre joints and fitting plinths, pelmets and cornice
- Fitting and levelling doors
- Snagging and completion of kitchen to a high quality
- Summary of the basic legislation associated with the installation of plumbing, electrics and gas in the kitchen area. Essential do’s and don’ts
