Colin Hayes
QHSE Auditor, Trainer and Risk Manager
Colin studied chemistry and analytical sciences before joining the Royal Air Force (RAF) as an avionics/aerospace engineer. He was heavily involved in health, safety, environmental and quality control systems throughout his military career and was an instructor on the Tornado fleet. He completed tours as a commissioned officer on exchange with the Royal Navy and on the Nimrod anti-submarine warfare aircraft. He is a registered lead auditor as well as a safety and environmental management professional.
Course programme
It will discuss how Global, International and National environmental issues can be converted into commercial pressure on subsea operations.
The scope of the course includes the identification of subsea operations and environmental impacts and the need for careful evaluation of these, using risk assessment such as HAZID/ENVID techniques. It will look at design, construction, operations and decommissioning, utilising manned diving and remotely operated systems. The course will contain a brief look at the methods of environmental management (ISO14001).
The course is based around the main legislation and regulations that apply to subsea operations (the onshore support as well as the subsea delivery) within the UK sector. It reviews in brief, the regulations and also DTI and Industry Guidance Notes/Codes of Practice. The course is a combination of lectures and practical exercises with ample opportunity for delegates to be asked detailed questions on any aspect.
As the course is for one day only, it will not explore the full detail of the regulations, but rather will provide an awareness to allow delegates to be able to find out more, on their own, subsequent to the course.
