BTEC First Diploma - One-year course
The BTEC First Diploma in Business consists of three compulsory units plus three specialist units.

Students will study:

• Exploring Business Purposes
• Developing Customer Relations
• Investigating Financial Control

And three from the following:

• Business Communications
• People in Organisations
• Providing Business and Administration Support
• Personal Selling
• Business Online
• Starting a Small Business

All units are portfolio-based. Assessment will take the form of a variety of formats including report writing, posters, presentations, formal short tests, role play and successful completion of a work experience placement.

Lessons will make full use of independent learning facilities, guest speakers and visits to industry, where appropriate. Students will go on work experience for a period of two weeks during the year.

Careers and Further Studies
Students will develop a good foundation knowledge of business enabling them to progress to employment, and with a Merit grade could progress to a BTEC National Diploma at SEEVIC College.

General Entry Requirements
At least two GCSEs at grade D or above or a BTEC Introductory Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level.
