Performing Arts (Performance)
BTEC First Diploma - One-year course
This course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the field of Performing Arts. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills across the following disciplines - Music, Dance and Acting. Study will combine both practical and theoretical elements, providing a base for a future career in the industry.

All the subjects will work together to combine a solid foundation - giving students the practical skills to perform and stage a variety of performances. During the year, students will have the opportunity to develop their skills and abilities to the full.

The course is made up of core units that give students fundamental performance skills, and specialist units, that enable in-depth study. These will include: Devising and Performing Plays; Performing Dance; Working as a Musical Ensemble and The Performing Arts Business. Students will need to be prepared to write about and discuss their ideas as well as perform.

Careers and Further Studies
This course provides an excellent opportunity to give students an insight into their chosen career and a springboard to the next step. Whether they intend to stay in education to go onto the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at SEEVIC College, or go straight into employment, this course will provide the basics to help them achieve.

General Entry Requirements
At least two GCSEs at grade D or above or a BTEC Introductory Diploma (or equivalent) in a related area at Merit level.
