What are the Course Details?
This Pre Entry/Entry Level course is designed to meet the needs of school leavers who find the pace and demands of learning difficult and challenging and may require high levels of individual support.


Is the Course for Me?
The Life, Vocational and Personal Studies course allows learners to benefit from a programme of learning based on their identified individual needs.
Learners progress through the programme at their own rate, with individual levels of achievement recognised and recorded, as and when they occur.

What will I Learn?
Learners will continue to develop existing skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT.
In addition, learners will develop new skills in:

• Social skills within the community
• Skills for healthy living
• Skills to help you cope more effectively and independently with everyday living
• Practical skills through a range of creative and productive activities
• Relevant work experience (if appropriate)

How will I Learn?
As part of this course, you will have a mix of classroom activities and practical sessions.
Learners will benefit from a programme of learning based on their identified individual needs.


How will I be Assessed?
Throughout the course, learners will build up a record of their work. This will show the work they have done and will be used to measure progress.
Learners may achieve certificates awarded by NPTC, the Awarding Body Consortium and City and Guilds.

What Enrichments are Available?
Learners will have access to a wide range of enrichment activities within the College to develop and broaden their experience of College life.

Are there any Trips or Visits?
Yes. Trips are arranged throughout the course to improve teamwork, confidence and self-esteem.

Is there any Work Experience?
Work experience may be arranged in various vocational areas to meet the individual's needs and requirements.

What can I Progress to?
Learners may progress through from Pre-entry Level to Entry Level 3. Alternatively, learners may progress to other programmes as appropriate.
Careers education is an essential part of the programme. Learners will be guided through the transition to other learning programmes or to suitable provision outside the College.
It is expected that all learners taking part in the course will achieve nationally recognised awards.

Other Learner Experiences
Learners on this course gain increased confidence, and with the support given throughout the course, acquire the skills they need to progress onto higher level courses in the vocational areas that best fit their interests and abilities.

Acceptance onto courses may be subject to a satisfactory interview and references. For some courses learners may also be required to pay for a CRB disclosure.
