Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a first aid approach to mental health. It teaches people how to recognise and respond appropriately to signs of mental ill health. It covers anxiety, depression, the warning signs of suicide and the early signs of psychosis. The course also addresses the stigma about mental illness. Many people are unsure as to how to respond to someone with a mental health problem, and are frightened of saying the wrong thing, We teach people a five point action plan which helps them to stay calm in a crisis situation. This course has been extensively evaluated and research shows that it increases knowledge, skills and confidence. It also has been shown to improve the mental health of participants.
