What are the Course Details?
This course provides an awarding body certificate for learners who wish to work in the motor trade. It provides underpinning knowledge, theory and practical training to Level 3 that can be converted into an NVQ when employment is gained.
As part of the course learners will study the following units:
- Carry Out Complete Vehicle Refinishing Operations
- Mix and Match Vehicle Paint Colours
- Identify and Rectify Vehicle Paint Defects
These activities will be based in the College's well-equipped vehicle body repair workshop.
Is the Course for Me?
This course will suit learners with an interest in gaining employment in a vehicle body repair shop or associated industries.
What will I Learn?
As part of this course learners will gain the skills needed to assess and rectify a variety of different paint defects allowing them to progress into employment within this industry.
How will I Learn?
Most of your time will be spent in our modern well-equipped motor vehicle workshops working on up-to-date vehicles and garage equipment. Classroom work will cover motor vehicle technology and will prepare you for the examinations at the end of each year.
How will I be Assessed?
Learners' performance will be measured with a combination of practical assessments, assignments and examinations throughout the year.
What Enrichments are Available?
Learners will have access to various activities within the College to develop and broaden their experience of College life. Learners will also be able to access Functional Skills in IT.
Are there any Trips or Visits?
Trips and visits do not form a part of this course but learners are encouraged to take part in enrichment activities.
Is there any Work Experience?
Work experience does not form a part of this course although learners will spend significant time in the College workshops.
What can I Progress to?
Once employed in the motor trade learners can progress onto NVQ Level 3, requiring only work-based assessments to gain the full NVQ.
