Course programme
The Extended Diploma in Music is equivalent to three A levels and after completion offers you the opportunity to study at a Higher Level on courses such as HNC or HND, as well as degrees in related areas. The department currently offers a progression route to the BA in Contemporary Music and Technology (Open University) which students need to apply for through UCAS.
The Extended Diploma in Music will allow you to experience a variety of areas available to you within the music industry. This may lead to work within studios, music retail outlets, composer or a freelance musician. Previous students have gained employment within studios, as session musicians and as touring live musicians.
Course Assessment Method
The Extended Diploma is a 180 credit qualification. Assessment is practically based and will include performances, presentations, written reports and in some instances tests. As this is a vocational programme the majority of this work is project based and the aim of the course is to build a portfolio of music related products whether they be compositions, recordings or performances.
Units include Music Business; Music Performance Skills; Aural and Listening Skills; Pop Music in Practice and other related music elements.
