About this course
You will need to attend an interview and have a proven interestin music, music production or DJing. You should have a Level 1Certificate in an appropriate discipline or 4 GCSEs.

This course is specially designed for budding producers, DJs,
MCs and musicians who want to learn about music technology and
improve their performance skills.
Lewisham College Music department has industry standard
equipment including, state of the art Digital Analogue recording
studios, computer rooms using Cubase and Reason and a brand new Pro
tools and Logic suite; the only one of its kind in the South East
London area.
What will I study?
The course combines units in music technology using software
sequencers such as Cubase and Reason with basic keyboard skills and
an opportunity to perform in a club environment, with weekly DJ
workshops and mini gigs. If you want to be a self starter in the
industry the music business option will furnish you with an insight
into how the popular music industry works. This course is coupled
with IT and key skills that will update your computer knowledge and
general literacy.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes the form of mainly practical assignments.
Students also meet regularly with tutors to help plan studies and
to discuss progress.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
