Why should I come to Pendleton College?
The simple answer is because you want to make music and you know that modern technology can help you achieve this aim. You will have some knowledge of music, some awareness of the potential of IT and a passionate feel for all kinds of music.
What will I study?
The course allows students to explore, understand and create different styles of music. Units studied could include: Popular Music and Jazz Practical work specialising in sequencing and recording with the study of: 'The development of music technology', 'Music from the western classical tradition', and 'Popular music and jazz' Arranging and improvising using technology Written work exploring a range of musical styles Practical work producing two pieces of music using mic and overdub techniques Composing using computer technology to produce two pieces of music Written Work: Listening and Analysing
What will I achieve?
A good grade in AS/A Music Technology indicates that you have good music technology skills and the ability to use your knowledge analytically and practically. This provides a good basis to go on to study music technology at university, but you will have shown that you are adaptable and creative enough to take any course or career option.
How is the course assessed?
55% of the course is assessed through coursework and the rest is assessed through written examinations.
What else will I do?
Your interest in music will probably lead you to join in with college drama and music productions. You may also help other student musicians to record their work.
