The OCR Level 2 National in Health and Social Care is just one of the courses offered in the Health and Social Care department at Notre Dame College. It is a one year course that covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of Health, Social Care and Early Years Services.

What will I study?
The course consists of small chunks of learning grouped into 2 blocks of 3 units. This will allow you to achieve at two points during the course. You will achieve the certification after completion of:
- BLOCK 1: LEVEL 2 NATIONAL AWARD IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE To achieve the OCR Level 2 National Award you are required to achieve two mandatory units (i.e. units you must do) and one optional unit.
- BLOCK 2: LEVEL 2 NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE Then to finally achieve the OCR Level 2 National Certificate in Health and Social Care, you need in addition to achieve two further mandatory units and one optional unit.
If you leave the course without achieving the full eight unit certificate but achieve the four unit award, you will still achieve a meaningful qualification that you can use to help you gain employment or go on to further education.
How is this course assessed?
The full OCR Level 2 National Award and Certificate in Health and Social Care is coursework based. All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by an OCR visiting moderator. All units are graded: Pass, Merit or Distinction
What next?
These qualifications are designed to enable you to either:
- enter employment at trainee level within a wide range of health and social care environments
- or progress to A level Health and Social Care and a range of other Level 3 courses at Notre Dame.
