NVQ Level 4 Leadership & Management in Care Services 3078-41

This new Leadership & Management for Care Services NVQ replaces both the Registered Managers Award (RMA) and Managers of Residential Childcare. The review and updating of the national occupational standards was undertaken by Skills for care and Development which is the Sector Skills Council for social care, children’s and young people’s workforces within the UK.

The review has resulted in a new qualification structure that provides one qualification for people managing adults or children/young people’s services and therefore allows greater transferability.The NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care services enables those who manage care services to demonstrate their competence to practice safely and their acquisition of specialist skills and continuous professional development..

To achieve the full qualification you will need to complete 8 units; 4 Mandatory and 4 optional units. Mandatory Units1.

Manage and develop yourself and your workforce within the care services2.

Lead and manage provision of care services that respects, protects and promotes the rights and responsibilities of people3.

Develop and maintain systems, procedures and practice care services to manage risks and comply with health and safety requirements4.

Lead and manage effective communication that promotes positive outcomes for people within care services Optional UnitsThere are a total of 27 optional units to choose from, covering all aspects of Care Management; Adults, children; young people. Candidates should select those units that most reflect their actual job role. The assessors will discuss the options available and assist the candidate in selecting the most appropriate units.This NVQ is not approved for the use of candidates less than 19 years of age.Progression RoutesCandidates achieving the Level 4 NVQ in Leadership & Management for Care Services may want to consider progressing into higher level qualifications such as City & Guilds Professional Diplomas and certificates in:
