Day 1: Meet in the studio at City Lit. We will prepare a small selection of supports and discuss ways into painting on location. We will cover two introductory-level techniques – one in watercolour, one in oil. You will learn how to summarise the effects of light and tone, and ways of working with a simplified colour palette. Experienced painters are welcome to pursue their own approach with tutor support.
Day 2: We meet OFF-SITE. If the weather forecast is good we will return to Mile End for the day. If the weather is variable we will work in sheltered areas on the Southbank - or in the studio at City Lit.
