It is also suitable for people with an interest in working with deaf people in the future and is the first step to career in BSL/English interpreting. Unit BSL 101 (WMB11) is designed as an introduction and should be completed first; unit BSL 102 (WMB12) & unit BSL.

Level: Level 1 - Module 1
Course content:
A course to introduce you to the Deaf Community, so you can gain experience and signing skills in Deaf environment and events. It is also suitable for people with an interest in working with deaf people in the future and is the first step to career in BSL/English interpreting.
Unit BSL 101 (WMB11) is designed as an introduction and should be completed first; unit BSL 102 (WMB12) & unit BSL 103 (WMB13) can be completed in any order. Candidates must achieve all three units for the full qualification. Content for unit BSL 101: understand and use a limited range of simple words and sentences e.g. meeting people, exchanging information, numbers, weather, transport and directions.
Course Structure:
You will lean to use BSL to communicate with deaf people on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language. Through demonstration, pair/group work and role play.

Assessment:
Tutor feedback, Internally and externally assessed practical skills. Homework, Exam (BSL 101) with Tutor, exam fees paid separately, please ask Tutor for dates and fees.
Next step:
Successful students will be able to progress to BSL 1: module 2 (unit BSL 102)

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
