Course description
Develop counselling skills to a safe level of practice, and gain an introduction to essential counselling theory whilst raising awareness of professional issues. You will extend your own personal awareness and provide a safe environment for personal development an interview is required.
This qualification will be valuable for anyone needing to enhance their functional role, whether at work or in a personal capacity. It is also useful to people seeking a career change and who eventually wish to attain accredited counsellor status. It will also be of use to those wishing to consolidate their counselling skills and develop their knowledge of counselling theory. The minimum age of entry for this qualification is 18 years. Candidates should either: • Hold the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or equivalent or • Have considerable experience in a voluntary organisation of working on a one to one basis which can be certified or • Be able to provide evidence of work of an appropriate kind and level (either occupationally or on training courses) certified by a suitable qualified person. It should be noted that the NCFE Level 3 Certificate is not a â€-licence†to practise as a Counsellor. It does however, provide a progression route to a counselling Diploma, after which candidates may seek British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accreditation as a counsellor.
