Part-Time CERTIFICATE IN WORK BASED AGRICULTURE (Level 1)

Formerly known as an NVQ, and taking place in the workplace at a suitable time arranged with your assessor, this course provides basic training in agricultural practices. Designed to encompass all areas of agriculture, including livestock, arable and lowland fodder production, you will gain a wide range of introductory skills relevant to your career.

Students must be employed or in a 1 year work placement within the industry.

Course Content

• Maintain safe and effective working practices
• Transport supplies of physical resources within the work area
• Assist with the maintenance of equipment

Plus a choice of 4 uintis which are most relevant ot your area of work. Some of the units include:

• Assist with preparing sites and planting extensive crops
• Assist with maintaining the health of extensive crops
• Assist with harvesting and preparing extensive crops
• Assist with preparing and maintaining livestock accommodation
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of livestock on outdoor sites
• Adopt good hygiene practices at work
• Prepare and operate a tractor
• Assist with the care of animals
• Assist with the movement of animals

Portfolio of evidence and practical assessment.
