Course Details

Support relationships in the play environment. Work with children and young people to create play spaces and support freely chosen, self-directed play. Contribute to the health, safety, security and welfare of children and young people using the play environment. Help to improve your own practice and the work of your playwork team. Plus 2 optional areas from a list of 8 options relating to playwork. A minimum of 6 hours per week in a play setting working with children over a period of 2 years will be required to complete this qualification.

Qualifications required:
Experience of working in a play setting with children aged 5-14 years. Literacy skills relevant to Level 2 (your tutor will advise on these levels). Preferably training courses in playwork giving underpinning knowledge. This qualification is suitable for candidates who work with children aged 5 to 14 years in a wide range of open and closed access play provisions. Including out of school clubs, adventure playgrounds, hospitals and evening clubs, adventure playgrounds, hospitals and evening clubs.

Course hours:
Equivalent to 3 hours plus work experience. Attendance is expected at quarterly workshops held at the college.
