Course content:
Clothesmaking offers an opportunity to create your own wardrobe at a fraction of the cost it would take to buy. Make garments in the style that you want and not what fashions, trend dictate
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Learn how to alter and revamp old clothes instead of throwing them out.
- Use trimmings to customize and jazz up garments you have made.
- Learn how to use the different stitches on the machine to add details on your garments.
- Adapt patterns to make several garments which can save you money.
- Experienced learners can make more advanced clothes using techniques, which include setting in sleeves, making up & applying a collar & different types of pockets.
- Have knowledge of types of paper patterns & fabric to use.

Course Structure:
Classes typically have about 12-14 learners working on their own assignments. There is a weekly demonstration to introduce new procedures + catch up time twice during the course of the term.
Course resources:
You will have the use of all equipment in the workroom which includes:- SEWING MACHINES, OVERLOCKERS, IRONS & METAL RULERS. You will have access to the learning Centre in Putney & Tooting. This includes the use of computers & books

Tutor feedback. Student self assessment. Homework

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
Learners are required to supply all patterns, fabrics, interlinings & linings and a comprehensive work box of sewing equipment, list of equipment supplied at first session
