Course content:
This course gives a basic introduction to computing for those who have no or little experience. The course will enable the learner to gain the skills required to carry out fundamental tasks and confidently operate a P.C.
By the end of this course students will be able to
Basic PC skills
- log on and run a program
- Use functions of the mouse
- Access drives and data stored on the computer
- Create folders
- Create files
- Cut/copy/paste files
Microsoft Word
- Create a word document
- Add â€-effects' to word documents
- Save and print work.
The Internet
- Open an internet browser
- Use search engines to find information.
- Use Websites to find information.
- Set up an Email Account. (advanced users)
- Send and receive Emails. (advanced users)
-working with pictures and creating posters and invitations
- Plugging a device into a PC's USB port
- Retrieving pictures off a digital camera
On the 12 week course at Tooting you will cover the same topics at gentler pace and in more depth. Students will also be able to:
- Input data on a spreadsheet
- Use formula on a spreadsheet

Course Structure:
Students will use PCs to practise online. Presentations will be made using interactive whiteboards and printed notes from online material. Class discussions will be held to help students grasp complex concepts.
N.B: Homework plays an important part of this course and it is hoped you will spend an average of 10hrs per week practise, inclusive of lecture time!

Course resources:
all students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
