About this course
This course is for students 19 years old and over. You will need a computing qualification at level 3 or equivalent experience (e.g. Vocational A level ICT, Business or Science, A++/MCSE/CISCO Certification, BTEC National qualification). Mature applicants with relevant industrial experience will also be considered.

Course content:
This intensive one year course is designed for those who wish to update their knowledge and skills or change careers in preparation for employment positions as Computing specialists. It also provides an effective base for those who wish to further their studies to degree level. Students who do well on the course can be fast tracked to the second year of the degree course offered by the college, or at other institutions.
This course gives you broad-based skills for working with computers in a commercial/technical environment.

Course Structure:
The course consists of ten individual units of study, taught over two semesters. Each specialist unit is led by a tutor with expertise in that area. Nine units are taught and the tenth is an individual project completed by the student.
Course resources:
The college provides a full range of computing facilities. All students have access to our fully equipped state of the art learning centre. This included free internet access.
Assessment:
There are a range of assessment methods, including assignments, project work, and at least one asseement which evaluates the students skills outside the formal examination setting.
Next step:
A degree (usually starting in the second year), or into work. A student with an HNC in Computing would be suited for work in Application Programming, Systems Analysis or Computer Support.
