Course content
The aim of the Diploma is to provide professional training in counselling through which candidates will acquire a sound theoretical framework together with the practitioner skills required to work safely and effectively as a counsellor. Candidates will have to undertake 40 hours of personal therapy during the course, and be supervised by a qualified BACP supervisor for 120 hours of counselling over the 2 years.
This Diploma is an appropriate qualification for teachers, social workers, nurses, probation officers etc (and volunteers from a variety of helping agencies), personnel officers, managers and anyone planning a career change or returning to work.
Students applying for this course must:
- Demonstrate evidence of successful counselling training to a level 3 in counselling skills and theory, involving a minimum of 120 hours tuition
- Have previous experience of working with people and/or counselling/therapy and an interest in working with people
- Provide an essay of about 500 words on Why I wish to pursue a career as a counsellor and two references together with the completed enrolment form
- Attend an interview
- Be over 21 years old
- Complete a CRB Disclosure Application form. The cost of this is included in the tuition fee.
NB
- Acceptance on the course is subject to the above and at the discretion of the interviewer
- A minimum of 8 candidates is required to run this course.
- This course is not accredited by the BACP, but on successful completion of the course you will be eligible to apply for BACP accreditation.
- This course is held at in Jameson Mews, near Bexhill Station
