Film Appreciation: Reading and Enjoying Films

Course content:
At the end of the course, the students will have basic and intermediate notions of film grammar (audio-visual story telling vocabulary) to evaluate and appreciate films (fiction and non-fiction)

1. Introduction to film language (mise-en-scene, mise-en-shot)
2. Film Aesthetics: The Frame
3. Film Aesthetics: The Edit
4. Film Aesthetics: Story and Structure
5. The Documentary Film
