Course Overview Create beautiful designs using flowers and foliage, suitable for all occasions. Learners need to bring the following to their class; pen, paper, table covering (either newspaper or plastic) scissors suitable for cutting plant material, tool box of basic items (sharp knife, floral tape, floral fix, floral foam) required for flower arranging, plus materials required to produce a floral design of your choice.
Qualification gained: This course does not lead to a formal qualification
Course Content: This course aims to show learners how to use plant material to its best advantage, learning how to select and condition the plant material they will be using. The course will also cover seasonal designs, princibles and elements of design, designs for home, weddings, parties, church designs, in both a contemporary and traditional style of flower arranging. Learners will be taught how to manipulate leaves and other plant materials and to use accessories. Each lesson will explore a different design with both contemporary and traditional techniques being demonstrated. The course will keep learners up to dtae with new ideas within the flower arranging world.
Work Experience: Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.
Course Assessment: Progress on this course will be tested through observation, presentation, peer and lecturer feedback.
Progression: Learners can progress to other floristry or flower arranging courses or to qualification course such as City & Guilds.
Homework: Learners will need to put time aside every week to collect materials required for each lesson
Additional Costs: There is a materials fee payable on enrolment which covers the lecturer's demonstration materials. Learners will need to provide their own materials.
