The curriculum and structure
The general management curriculum covers the major business and management disciplines, plus the transferable skills of management such as consultancy and investigative skills.
Elective study allows the opportunity to choose from a list of modules such as Employment Law, Supply Chain Management, Consultancy, International Business and Knowledge management.
Flexible length of study
Normally studied over 3 years, although you can complete the degree in a shorter time with more intensive study. Course members sometimes take longer than 3 years, when, for example, they have to spend a period of time working abroad for their company.
If you have to leave the programme before the end
The majority of course members complete the whole degree. If you have to leave mid way through, you can take credits towards the degree with you.
Assessment
In Phases 1 and 2, each module is assessed by means of a work based project plus a subject knowledge assessment which may be based on a case study or questions.
Outcomes of assessment The MBA operates a numerical marking scheme under which the following grades can be achieved within a module:
    Distinction - (70 and above)
    Pass - (50 - 69)
    Refer - (30 - 49)
    Fail - (Below 30)
Students are normally required to achieve the pass threshold in each assessment task.
Reflective Statements on personal learning are assessed as pass, refer or fail.
Action learning
Action learning is becoming increasingly popular in both private and public sectors as a vehicle for management and organisational development. Action learning involves small groups of 6 or 7 managers working together over the year. Members of each action learning set make a commitment to support each other in finding solutions to workplace problems and developing as managers. The action learning set has been likened to having a personal think tank. MBA course members have the option to join such an action learning set and the majority take advantage of this opportunity to add value to their learning.
