ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 24 to be eligible for funding.

Applicants should have reached a reasonable standard of education and possess the necessary motivation, commitment to study and awareness of the demand of the programme. All applicants will be required to attend an interview and undertake an initial assessment.


PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
In addition to learning the foundation skills needed to work within the Hairdressing industry, this programme also provides Apprentices with the opportunity to develop the Key Skills in Appllication of Number, Communication and IT that are essential in today's industry.

There is an additional skill component which is to be agreed between the Apprentice and the employer in negotiation with the Programme Tutor and Assessor. The options include: optional NVQ Hairdressing units not already achieved at Level 2, Key Skills at a higher level than previously mentioned, recognised competition work, RIPHH and other recognised health and safety qualifications.

This programme is based on units leading to accreditatio in competencies such as:

Colouring;
Cutting;
Health and Safety;
Perming and neutralising;
Reception duties; and
Shampooing and conditioning.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
After the successful completion of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship, Apprentices will gain the following awards:

NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing;
Key Skills Application of Number Level 1; and
Key Skills Communication Level 1.
