About this course

Entry to the programme is via an interview with a Training Assessor who will assess your achievements to date and establish your suitability for the programme. You should have achieved 4 GCSE's Grade D or above in English & Maths and be employed or actively seeking employment in the hairdressing industry.

What will I learn?
You will study a range of mandatory units which include:- * Make Sure Your Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health & Safety *Give Clients a Positive Impression of Yourself and Your Organisation *Advise and Consult With Clients *Shampoo, Condition and Treat the hair and scalp *Change Hair Colour *Style & Finish Hair *Set & Dress Hair *Cut Hair Using Basic Techniques plus one of the optional units below: *Fulfil Salon Reception Duties *Promote Additional Services or Products to Clients *Develop and Maintain Your Effectiveness at work *Perm and Neutralise Hair Key Skills may also be required in Application of Number and Communication at Level 1 (depending upon English/Maths GCSE results).

How will I be assessed?
NVQ assessments are continuous throughout the programme and consist of a combination of practical assessments, oral and written question and answer sessions, projects, observations and portfolio building. Assessments will be undertaken in the workplace and also in the College's new hairdessing academy.

What can I do after the course?
You could progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) in Hairdressing. This qualification will recognise you as a fully qualified hair stylist. Or NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service
