Inspection Testing and Design Level 3

Is this course right for me?

This Level 3 course is for those with experience of inspection and testing, it covers all aspects in the inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations, taking into account IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) and Electricity at Work regulations.

What will I be learning?

This is run as a ten-week evening course. It involves attending College one evening per week with a City and Guilds written examination on the eleventh week. There will be also one-day attendance to complete four practical assessments that have to be achieved.

The course covers both the knowledge required and the skills needed to carry out the work.
The topics covered are:
Preparation for Inspection and Testing
Inspection
Practical Testing
Certification

How will I learn?

The content of the course includes TWO forms of assessment:
A 2 hour written examination with 20 short answer and 6 structured questions.
Four practical assessments based on inspection and testing of an installation.

They are:
Visual Inspection
Insulation Resistance testing
Earth loop Impedance testing
Completing Periodic Inspection Reports

What else might I want to know?

The course is aimed at those who have completed the 2330 Level 3 or equivalent and have the responsibility for the Quality Inspection, Testing and Certification of electrical installations.

Guidance Note 3
Inspection and Testing
Study equipment such as pens, paper, and simple scientific calculator.

What can I do afterwards?

The City and Guilds 2391 part 1 can lead on to the City and Guilds 2391 part 2 Design, Erection and Verification or even City and Guilds 2377 Inspection and Testing of Portable Appliances.
