Course Description
If you'd like to develop a masterly eye for texture and colour and learn how to use paint to dramatic effect, this decorative techniques course is for you.
You will learn about the use of complimentary colours, how to make rooms appear -larger and -warmer produce a stencil that can be taken and used to transform dreary old kitchen units, cupboards and even walls. Suitable for home owners, DIY enthusiasts, self reliant people or people wanting a career change
Course Content
- Understand Health and Safety requirements related to the safe use of tools and equipment
- Apply rag-rolling techniques to add colour and interest to walls, doors and furniture
- Learn stippling which gives a patterned effect by dabbing the surface with a brush
- Apply Frottage, to create a texture by applying glaze, stippling the glaze and rubbing.
- Apply sponging using two colours to achieve a finish similar to granite marble
- Use marbling techniques in the decoration of interiors such as plaster columns, made to look like expensive marble
- Apply graining techniques to imitate wood-grain on a non-wood surface in order to increase the surface's aesthetic appeal
