Course Description
You will learn how to screen print on to cloth using photographic screen print processes. Creating exciting and personal results, you will experiment with dyes, colour and very simple pattern repeats on to a variety of cloth and paper surfaces.

Course Content
  • Understanding basic principals, tools, dyes, materials and processes related to the photographic screen print process
  • Preparation of a basic photographic stencil
  • Experimenting with the screen printing process on to a variety of fabric and paper surfaces
  • Use of colour, basic registration or repeat of pattern shapes


Method of Assessment
Summative assessment of finished work as well as ongoing appraisal.

Equipment and Additional Costs
Students are required to bring source material to act as a starting point eg a photograph or drawing (preferably a simple composition with good tonal values and interesting lines or shapes) A small selection of fabric for printing on to, include white cotton cloth (part of an old sheet is ideal). Printing materials will be provided by the college at a charge of £5 per learner.
