Please let the college know if you are left handed so that the tutor.

Course Overview This course provides learners with the basic skills of knitting and crocheting. There will be 4 sessions covering crocheting and 6 of knitting. Learners need to bring wool and the appropriate crochet hook to the first class. Suggested is the purchase of 100g 4-ply cotton in a light colour of choice and crochet hook number 3. Please let the college know if you are left handed so that the tutor can be made aware of this and teach the appropriate method.

Qualification gained: This course does not lead to a formal qualification

Course Content: Crocheting - slipstitch, double crochet, trebles (and variations), rounds, squares and shaping a piece of work. Knitting - Purl, knit, casting on or casting off. Patterns made using both stitches. Patterns with more than 1 colour. Shaping a piece of work.

Work Experience: Learners do not need to be in relevant employment to enrol on this course

Course Assessment: Assessment will be through tutor observation and feedback

Progression: Learners may progress to making clothing, blankets etc.

Homework: Learners will benefit from practising the techniques learnt in class at home

Additional Costs: Learners will nedd to purchase wool, crocheting hooks and knitting needles
