This course is designed to bring London to life (especially its history) through a series of illustrated talks, walks and visits to places of historical interest in London. None of the walks are arduous. A typical walk might be along the South Bank looking at the site of the original theatres, bear-baiting and cock fight pits and finishing near a historic tavern. Daytime walks will focus on.

This course is suitable for students of all ages, but you must have the mobility to travel to and walk around places of interest not all of which are wheelchair accessible.

Course content:
This course is designed to bring London to life (especially its history) through a series of illustrated talks, walks and visits to places of historical interest in London. None of the walks are arduous. A typical walk might be along the South Bank looking at the site of the original theatres, bear-baiting and cock fight pits and finishing near a historic tavern. Daytime walks will focus on historic buildings. The Victorians will be another theme covered in the evening courses.
At the end of the course you will:
Have knowledge of the historical and contextual background to the visits for the term
Have visited 5 or 6 places of interest in London
Course Structure:
Evenings: A lecture and Powerpoint presentation in the college one week the next is a walk or visit. Walks will take place Summer term only.
Day: one week is a lecture based at the Roehampton Centre and the following week is an outside visit.
Course resources:
Places in London of historical interest. Comfortable shoes and warm clothing for outside tours.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
None, but some outings may involve an entry fee to be advised no more than £20 a term. You may wish to bring a notebook and pen to lectures.
