Duration :1 evening per week for 51 weeks over 1.5 years

Times :34 x Monday: 6.30 pm ' 9.00 pm (17 weeks/module)
+ 6 x Saturday (for practical sessions)

Is it right for me?
If you are a keen amateur or a professional gardener with a previous qualification such as the RHS Level 2 Certificate or National Certificate or Diploma in Horticulture, this Advanced Certificate is a step up from the Level 2 Certificate and now forms the first stage of obtaining the RHS Diploma ' although it is a qualification in its own right. The full programme of 4 modules (3 theory and 1 practical) takes one and a half academic years, but modules can be spread out to suit the individual's requirements.

What qualifications will I need?
Minimum age 16 years. RHS Level 2 Certificate, National Certificate in Horticulture, Diploma in Horticulture. Tetanus protection is recommended.

What will I be learning about?
Module A ' Plant propagation, growing media, plant nutrition
Module B ' Plant health, physiology and taxonomy
Module C ' Practical (on Saturdays)
Module E ' Establishment and maintenance of lawns, plant establishment and nursery stock

What is involved?
3 theory modules of 17 weeks each, over 18 months plus one practical module

This qualification offers good career opportunities in the horticultural industry.

What materials are required?
Basic stationery. Suitable outdoor clothing for practicals.

What is next?
RHS Diploma in Horticulture.

How will I be assessed?
Examinations available February and July. Practical in August or September
