A preparatory course for anyone who wants to know more about running their own business. This will give you the basics required to get you started on planning and developing this venture.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identify all the issues that you need to be aware of in starting and running a small business.
- Set goals for your business
- recognise legal structures and insurance requirements
- organise marketing, cash flows and breakeven points
- do your own simple book keeping and accounts
- know how to employ people, rent premises, raise finance and write a business plan.
Course Structure:
Weekly covering of different subjects about starting and running a small business. You will need to attend every week as this is a short course to just give you a quick overview. A lot of work outside class is required to get the most from this course.

When information is available you will notice 2 different fees stated for this course. The fee you pay is dependent on your status:
Fee 1: Standard fee;
Fee 2: Aged 60+ years fee
Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
You will need to bring proof of age and any benefits when you enrol.
You DO NOT have to pay a college registration fee for these courses, but you may have to pay for additional course materials.Materials costs:
