About this course

An Anatomy and Physiology qualification is required. This could be achieved alongside studying this programme. (see A&P course) 3 GCSE's A-C or above.

Professional appearance is of paramount importance in the Salon, to create the right image to attract clientel. Females: White therapy tunic and white trousers. Males: White Therapy tunic, black smart trousers. A high standard of personal grooming. Hair must be neat and tidy. Nails must not extend beyond fingertips and be unpolished. No artificial nails. No jewellery. Uniform, books and kit will be discussed at interview.

Fee Information: The College charges a range of fees, primarily Home and Overseas. Under 19s assessed as Home, do not pay the course fees, we only charge a 20 enrolment fee which is refunded if you complete the course. Home students over 19 undertaking their First Full Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE A-C) or their First Full Level 3 (equivalent to BTEC National or 2 ALevels) will be charged 20 enrolment fee plus any examination fees. For Home students over 19 receiving certain state benefits, the 20 enrolment is charged and not refundable. In all other instances, you will be charged the Home-EU or Overseas Fee.

About the course:
Reflexology is a form of treatment based on the belief that the body is dependent upon energy flows which can be improved through specific massage of feet, hands and ears. At this level the treatment is primarily used for the stimulation of systems and relaxation. In addition, the technique is frequently provided by Health Service personnel as an extra skill and particularly in its role of comforting and supporting terminally ill patients. Critical aspects of the qualification are to ensure that the treatments provided are safe and effective. The qualification is suitable for those currently employed in beauty therapy, holistic and health related sectors and others wishing to acquire the particular skills involved.

There is a mix of traditional learning facilities such as books, videos, magazines and newspapers as well as access to a wide range of on-line resources. Each Learning Centre has facilities for groups work as well as quiet study areas. The College offers first-class tutorial and welfare services to provide support and guidance whenever it is needed

After the course:
Successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology provides opportunities for progression to the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Additional Reflexology Techniques and qualifications otherwise meeting the requirements for reflexology as specified in NOS promoted by Skills for Health. It is also useful to consider as progression, the VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Understanding the Health Care Environment for Providers of Complementary Therapies, VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Using Therapy Techniques as an Aid to Stress Management as well as other related therapies or to employment in health care where reflexology is needed.
