Performing Arts - Advanced Creative and Media Diploma

Subject category:
Performing Arts

What will I study?
The Diploma is a busy, exciting and performance centred course based in our purpose built Performing Arts Centre. It is structured around the creation of practical performance projects and the development of your vocational and academic skills.

Duration:
Two years

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
There are trips to venues such as The Globe and the National Theatre during the course, as well as local visits to Brighton Pavilion, Theatre Royal Brighton and Eastbourne Theatres. There are also opportunities to participate in international trips, workshops and activities. Previous trips have included Paris and New York.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through the presentation of practical performance projects, supported by written coursework, group critique and individual tutorial. You will be assessed on your ability to research, plan, develop, record, deliver and evaluate your practical projects. You are encouraged to reflect honestly, and to critique your practical projects positively. You are also encouraged to record and submit your work in a range of vocationally relevant forms and styles. There are no examinations. As an integral part of the Diploma, in the initial term you will study and develop functional skills in English, Maths and ICT related to the Performing Arts.

What can I do afterwards?
This course provides excellent training for progression into Higher Education, or to work in the creative performance industries. Many of our students go on to study for a degree in the performing arts or technical theatre at university. Others go on to study at one of the well known drama schools such as Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford, Mountview, East 15 or RADA, with whom we have excellent links. Students also go straight into work through our contacts within the creative industries, or have established their own performance companies.

Are there any additional costs involved?
Students will be expected to provide £40 at the start of the course towards necessary costs. There may also be extra costs for events and excursions that complement the curriculum.
