About this course
A minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade E or above (including Maths), you will also need a good level of English to complete this course.

Who is the course for?
Those wishing to work towards a career in Engineering. This is the first stage aimed at introducing the principles and the technology of engineering.
What is the course about?
The course will cover the following topics:
Practical projects in the workshop
Learning basic wiring or welding skills.
You will also study basic machine/fitting operations.
An additional maths unit is included in this course to aid your progression to the next level.
Will I need anything else?
Overalls and Safety Boots must be worn in all workshop sessions.
Pens, pencils and ring binders are required.
All tools will be provided in practical sessions
How long & often do I attend?
The course starts week beginning 17th September 2009 and runs for 16 hours per week and for 36 weeks.
Minimum attendance is 90%
How will I be assessed?
Assessment of practical activities and the creation of a portfolio of evidence.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Following this course you can progress on to the PEO Level 2 Machanical Engineering, or an Engineering Apprenticeship. Alternatively you could enter employment as a machine operator or basic welder in an Engineering firm.
