Is this course right for me?

This course is designed to give you the qualification required to enable you to apply for a Personal Licence. The course provides the qualification that is a requirement of the licensing regulations.

What will I be learning?

The course will cover the legislative requirements for becoming a Personal licence holder. As part of the course you will cover the following topics: licences, permitted hours, young persons, the nature of alcohol and how it affects the body and the social responsibilities in the retail sale of alcohol.

How will I learn?

The course is delivered through lectures, discussion and guided reading from the handbook which you will receive at the start of the course. You will be assessed by a 40 question multiple choice exam and must get all 5 questions for part A correct and 25 out of 35 to pass part B.

What else might I want to know?

You will need to bring identification with you for your examination; this is an awarding body requirement. Acceptable forms of identification include: Photo drivers licence (both parts) or passport. If you do not have either of these then other forms of identification can be accepted please contact the college for details. You will not be able to sit your examination without providing the necessary identification.

What can I do afterwards?

After successful completion of this course, it is possible to progress to further hospitality and catering courses or alternatively to go into employment.
