This course will explore the Pilates method as an effective form of body conditioning. There is an opportunity to practice key Pilates movements that use core muscles, improve breathing techniques and encourage relaxation. Students will learn how to work safely using small Pilates equipment including blocks and resistance bands to improve alignment and technique. The course will also cover a brief history of Pilates and how to use Pilates in everyday life.

About this course

• Knowledge of the key principles of Pilates and how to apply them in practice
• Knowledge of the history of Pilates
• Use core muscles effectively
• Recognise and demonstrate how to improve alignment
• Practice lateral breathing
• Work safely though the correct use of use foam rollers and other small Pilates equipment - mats, resistance, bands, and blocks.

There are no additional costs. Suitable loose clothing should be worn which is easy to move in, such as a t-shirt and track suit bottoms.
