Your Course
This course will suit those amongst you who have no previous knowledge of Polish. The language learnt will be that used in real life situations, both written and spoken.There will be a wide range of materials used with lots of exercises. Students will be encouraged to practise between lessons.
During this course students will take a short internal assessment in reading Polish at Beginners' level. This will help to prepare them for the OCR Asset language test that will be taken at the end of the first year of study.
This course feeds into Polish Beginners level 2 in the summer term 2010, and then into Beginners 3 in the autumn term 2010.
The course book is'Hurra Pol Polska 1', [ISBN no.10.83 60229-15-5], units 1-4.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course you should be able to:
· Understand simple text dealing with basic personal and social needs [e.g. simple captions, people's profiles on the internet
· Understand brief recordings [e.g. radio announcements, Polish songs etc.]
· Give and receive basic realistic information [e.g. directions on a map, ordering food in a restaurant, describing people etc.]
· Write short texts [e.g. simple letters, postcards, take down simple notes etc.]
Your Tutor
Magda Generalczyk is a native Polish speaker and a qualified teacher. She has a Bachelors degree in teaching and a Masters Degree in cognitive linguistics, both from the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in her home town in Poland - Torun. She has experience of teaching all age groups at various levels.

Tuition fees: £ 95
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.
