This is a Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care course. This course would be good for you if you are interested in, or new to working in adult social care. It is aimed at developing your basic knowledge of the adult social care sector with a view to prepare you for voluntary or paid work in the sector.

Outline what adult social care is
Outline values and principles of adult social care
List skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care
Outline ways to communication in adult social care
List the types of roles and responsibilities of the adult social care worker.
All materials are supplied for the course. You should bring a folder for your hand outs and a black pen.
You will be taught in a group using discussion, presentation, individual tutorial, computer search, role-play, quizzes and DVD resources. You will undertake a small research project in your own time.
