Progression: Certificate in Skills for Life

This course is designed for students who are unsure about their career plans and would like to build up their basic skills to progress. For students with no formal qualifications, you will be able to explore pathways in Hair and Beauty, IT and Health and Social Care. We welcome students with varying learning needs and require additional support to complete their studies.

What will I be doing?
You will cover:

• health and safety
• improved learning techniques
• IT skills
• interview skills
• managing money

You will have the opportunity to participate in visits and listen to speakers from the world of work in different industries.
During the course of the year you will also have the opportunity to participate in work experience and you may transfer to Level 1 vocational courses to gain experience of other areas of learning offered by the College.

How will I be assessed?
You will be expected to complete investigations, prepare presentations, survey organisations, and complete assignments and homework during the course. Your assessments will be based on practical activities and are related to the world of work.

Where do I go from here?
Successful completion will enable you to apply for a Level 1 course in an area that interests you.
