A retail business without any customers will not survive and a satisfied customer is the best strategy of all.
This statement might seem a little harsh but it is true. If customers do not want to go to a retail outlet, it will not sell anything and it simply cannot survive. Think, for a moment, of organisations in the retail sector that have failed in recent times – they were not selling enough products to sustain the business

Do you remember companies such as: Blockbuster, Woolworths, Car Craft, City Link, HMV, USC, Phones 4 U, Nicole Fahri, Jessops, Comet, JJB Sports, Aquascutum?

This leads to the retail sector being very competitive. Retail businesses in the same sector are all competing for the same customers. Think of the big supermarkets – they all compete against each other. Indeed, the advertising for many of the supermarkets makes comparisons with their competitors, usually on the basis of price. They are trying to attract customers of another store, to their own. This course will provide you with all the relevant knowledge you need to know about a retail business and provides you with the opportunity to gain a certificate of achievement.

This NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Retail Operations has been accredited by the Register of Regulated Qualifications (Ofqual) and is part of the Qualifications Credit Framework (QCF).
