Salsa Dancing Beginners

Your Course
Over the last decade, Salsa has become one of the most popular dances in the UK and across Western Europe. Although it developed in Latin America, it is a type of music and dance that also has its roots in Europe. It is a community dance accessible to all ages and for many years it has provided an ideal opportunity to promote the spirit of friendship and a sense of community among people.
This course will teach students Cuban style Salsa dances such as the Cha Cha Cha, Charanga, La Rueda, Bolero and Merengue and many more in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Please do come along and have fun. If possible, outings to Salsa venues will be organised.
Clothing - you can wear anything comfortable. What we recommend, however, is a pair of shoes that do not stick to the floor to enable smooth body movement (leather soles are recommended). Please do not buy dancing shoes unless you already have a pair and wish to use them.
Learning Outcomes
You will be taught moves which form the basis for all types of Salsa. Students will learn to listen to the music, understand the logic of Salsa rhythms and co-ordinate their movements in tune with all the instruments used in Salsa music.
The course will enable students to master the fundamentals of the dance, allowing them to dance competently and move onto other types of Salsa Dancing with feeling and confidence. Please note that outings to Salsa venues in Cambridge will occasionally be organised to enable students to put theory into practice.
Your Tutor
Theodore Francisco Menelik-Mfuni's father came from Santa Clara (Cuba) and his mother from Kinshasa (DRC). He taught Salsa whilst in London for Kensington and Chelsea College for 8 years and also set up private dance classes in private venues in South West London at a time when Salsa was just being introduced into the UK. He is addicted to Salsa and hopes to transmit this addiction on to you.
