The SIA recognised Level 2 Award in Door Supervision will enable you to apply to the SIA for a Door Supervisor licence, and by obtaining this SIA licence you will increase your employment opportunities. Although the course syllabus will provide you with the basic knowledge needed to pass the exams, our instructors will also demonstrate to you the real life practicalities of being a SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Security Guard, so that when you eventually start work you will feel much more confident in your new role. Suitable for: New entrants to the security industry and those who are returning to it having previously worked prior to the introduction of SIA licensing in 2004. WIll need to undertake the SIA training to be able to apply for the SIA licence. Exemptions may apply if appropriate qualifications from a recognised Awarding Body were obtained less than three years ago. Please call us for full details.

About this course

To work as a SIA Door Supervisor or SIA Security Guard in the UK you will need to have an SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA). One of the requirements of the SIA licence is that you hold a recognised qualification, and the Level 2 Award in Door Supervision meets the requirement for the SIA Licence.

Course programme

Historically the most popular SIA licence held is the Door Supervisor. This is because as well as being able to work in pubs and clubs, it also allows you to undertake all of the activities covered by an SIA Security licence.

Additionally it covers working in Event Security (e.g. at the large music festivals that run throughout the summer months). This means that one SIA licence enables you to work in three sectors of the industry, so maximising your job opportunities.

To obtain the SIA Door Supervisor or Security licence you will need to pass a qualification such as the BIIAB Level 2 Award in Door Supervision. This will involve attending a four day course and passing three exams. You will also need to provide suitable identification and pass a criminality check.

There are significant overlaps with Security Guarding so you will be well prepared should you choose to work in that sector.
